Sept. 5, 2002 Dear Colleagues, As the "anniversary" of "9-11" approaches, the need for substantive information and alternative perspectives on contemporary events has perhaps never been greater. Last spring, Dr. Roberto Gonzalez and I constructed a website, "After September 11th: relevant Web-Based Resources", on our Department of Anthropology web-page. The links we identified are still relevant, not just to Afghanistan but to the entire Middle East, and include substantive, alternative media sources for both domestic and world news. The web-site also links to the excellent resources compiled by the Middle East Section of the AAA. As faculty, we hope you will publicize this web-site to your students as well as to your colleagues in other departments on campus. We would also like to disseminate information about our website to anthropologists and other faculty on other campuses. Some faculty and departments may want to link to our own website. The website can be accessed through: http://www.sjsu.edu/depts/anthropology/911Links.html Thanks in advance. Dr. Carol C. Mukhopadhyay, Professor
